Valley Green Grow proposes to develop 44 Old Worcester Road, in Charlton, Massachusetts, into an indoor marijuana facility, for the cultivation, manufacturing and processing of medical and adult-use cannabis, pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws (M.G.L.) c. 94I and M.G.L.c. 94G, respectively.
The site is uniquely suited for this development because the old orchard can be redeveloped for an energy efficient agricultural use utilizing the latest in greenhouse technology.
The property is 95 acres and the VGG facility would use just one quarter (¼) of the available land leaving significant amounts of green space and plenty of distance between abutters, neighbors, and the facility.
The security of the facility is carefully regulated by state and local Charlton authorities. A 24/7 security force, access control measures, and extensive surveillance ensure that only employees can have access to the facility. Reports from other parts of the U.S. have shown no increase in crime from either the legalization of marijuana or cultivation and manufacturing facilities.
VGG’s plan consists of three major components totaling approximately one million (1,000,000) square feet of new buildings:
- 860,000 square foot closed greenhouse (6 “modules”) and supporting functions
- 130,000 square foot post-harvest processing facility and supporting functions
- 10,000 square foot enclosed cogeneration facility (~18 MW) and supporting equipment
